WRAP-UP (#6): JULY 2016

This month was pretty good!

Ok... So most of the books were pretty short and two of them were audiobooks, but I do what I can! Don't push me, damn it!

By the way, for now, I'm not going to do more tbrs 'cause my rebel heart doesn't want to follow them.

What have you read this past month? Tell me in the comments!

1. The Assassin's Blade (Throne of Glass 0.1 - 0.5) by Sarah J. Maas

"She was fire, she was darkness, she was dust and blood and shadow."

★★★★★     5/5

Sometimes these collections of novellas can be a little bit underwhelming, but in this case it wasn't. It was great to know more about Celaena's past as well as her relationships with Sam and Arobynn. Amazing as always.

2. Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things by Jenny Lawson (audiobook)

"What I want you to know: Dying is easy. Comedy is hard. Clinical depression is no fucking picnic."

★★★★★    4.75/5

It was my first experience listening to a non fiction audiobook and it was great. It was funny, entertaining and Jenny Lawson is an amazing narrator and author.

3. Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir by Jenny Lawson (audiobook)

"A friend is someone who knows where all your bodies are buried. Because they're the ones who helped you put them there. And sometimes, if you're really lucky, they help you dig them back up."

★★★★★    5/5

When I finished listening to that audiobook I had to start with this one, because I just needed more. And this one was even more amazing, if that was possible. I'm basically going to listen to everything that this woman comes up with.

4. Alien Love Story by A.K. Dawson

"No, come in. Have some tea. Stay here tonight. Marry me."

★★★☆☆     3/5

It's was a quick, entertaining read, but sometimes it felt a little bit rushed and juvenile. And although I can see some good things, I don't think this book was perfect for me.

(Full REVIEW to come)

5. Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

"And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

★★★★★     5/5

I had never read it before, for some reason, and I'm so angry with myself! Lol. It was truly beautiful! The story, the characters, the illustrations, the metaphors, the message. If I have children at some point in my life I'm going to read them this book every night, for sure.

6. A Reaper of Stone & Broken Banners (A Reaper of Stone #1 - #2) by Mark Gelineau and Joe King

"Everything felt more alive now. More urgent. More real. She felt like she was waking up from a long slumber, and she liked it."

★★★★☆    4.5/5

They were pretty good, but I can't help feeling that if the books were longer they would be so much better, because they are so short that you don't have enough time to really care for the characters, and that's a shame.
